KELCAR Motorsports was many years in the making. Founder Kelley Carlton spent much of his youth traveling around to race tracks all over the Carolinas and Georgia with his father Russell. As the years passed Carlton's love of dirt racing evolved into involvement both as crew member and track worker. Carlton spent many years working on race cars and eventually wound up owning and co-owning cars as well. But Carlton eventually found his niche in motorsports as a race official.

Serving as flagman and then Director of Competition at the Laurens County Speedway, Carlton learned many lessons of the racing business from one of his earliest mentors in the business Fred Cogsdill. In 1999 Carlton began working with the Southern All Stars Racing Series and legendary promoter B.J. Parker. Carlton spent 11 years working with the longest running dirt racing series in the country eventually leaving while serving as Series Director in 2010.

Along the way Carlton had developed a loyal and talented group of officials with whom he worked Southern All Star events as well as managing and officiating unsanctioned events around the country. Events including Talladega Short Track's Ice Bowl, Green Valley Speedway's Bama Bash and Screven Motor Speedway's Winter Freeze. Carlton and his staff have grown that aspect of the business to include several venues and events. In addition to officiating the KELCAR staff also handles organization, promotion and public relations of events.

Carlton has continued in a leadership role in the industry since 2010. Carlton has served as the Series Director of the FASTRAK Racing Series, the National Dirt Racing League and currently holds the position with the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series. Along with those duties Carlton is active as an officer of the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame and serves as a columnist for both Dirt Late Model Magazine and DirtonDirt.com .

Carlton has also been sought after as a speaker and presenter at many seminars and workshops in the last several years. Carlton brings his years of experience and knowledge to topics which include Event Management, Promotions, Special Events, Social Media, Time Management, Emergency & Incident Response and Employee Training. Carlton has previously presented at IMIS Show, PRI Show, GRITS Show, CARS Show, UMP National Banquet, FASTRAK Companies International Banquet and many others.
